::PANGKOR ISLAND::

***GREAT FOR FAMILY***

The resort is heaven sent for tired mothers (and fathers) as there is plenty to keep the young ones occupied. For a start, you can't go wrong with the pool overlooking the sea. The kids have endless hours of splashing fun while you work on your tan or curl up with a book.

Then there's the charming Pandy Panda Children's Club, a large pondok (hut) stocked with books for both adults and kiddies. Akin to a colourful nursery, there are boxes brimming with toys to keep the young ones occupied. And to top it off, an assistant is also on hand to read them a book or two or to keep them company while they watch the umpteenth rerurn of Barney on the small TV.

***PAMPERING PORT***

Now that the kids are in good hands, there's no better time to have that 'me' time at last and no better place to have your island indulgence than at the Aryani Spa, a rustic haven tucked away near the resort's exquisite villas.

With the sound of the waves lapping on the shores, the cool afternoon breeze providing respite from the island sun, the sweet scent of local aromatic herbs and spices and the calming touches of your very own private masseuse, a visit to the spa is truly a rejuvenating escapade.

***WINING & DINING***

There are three restaurants. The Hornbill for informal buffet and al-fresco dining, the Pacific Terrace for cosy dining and sumptuous western offerings and the Kingfisher Pool Bar where you can unwind and relax with specially concocted cocktails in-between swims.

The buffet with its wide selection of fusion offerings blew us away on the first day. On the second day, the enthusiasm was more restrained as we became accustomed to the choices.

I'm not sure if the spread is repeated thereafter (I didn't stay long enough to find out) but if you start suffering from buffet overdose (which incidentally doesn't come cheap) then I'd recommend heading for Teluk Nipah or Teluk Belanga, (about 15 minutes drive away) for some nice at a reasonable price.
